When it comes to anxiety and panic attacks, we do the best we can to cope. Sometimes we fail miserably…and sometimes we triumph. As debilitating as anxiety disorders can be, take heart because they are very treatable.

There are 4 standard approaches to anxiety treatment. They are:

1. Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) -a therapeutic approach between patient and therapist that solves problems concerning dysfunctional emotions and behaviors. There is scientific evidence that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is effective for anxiety disorders.

Exposure Therapy- this involves the exposure to anxiety provoking triggers without any danger while the therapist comforts the patient. Studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in the treatment of anxiety disorders such as PTSD and phobias.

2. Medications

Four major classes of medications are used in the treatment of anxiety disorders: Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors(SSRIs), Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs), Benzodiazepines, and Tricyclic Antidepressants.

It goes without saying that all medications must be prescribed by a licensed physician and taken exactly as prescribed.

3. Anxiety Self Help Programs

There are excellent self help books and online treatment programs available for overcoming anxiety and panic attacks. One of the classic books on the subject is Hope and Help for Your Nerves by the late Dr. Claire Weekes.

4. Alternative and Complimentary Activities

Many people find great relief of their anxiety symptoms by participating in an alternative or complimentary activity that they find enjoyable, such as yoga, meditation, or light exercise. Hypnosis and acupuncture are also effective in reducing anxiety.

Hint: You can – and should – use alternative and complimentary treatments in combination with other anxiety treatments.

How to Succeed in Your Anxiety Elimination Treatment of Choice

Do your homework. If you are going to see a therapist for CBT or exposure therapy, be sure to ask the following questions:

Do you have any special training treating anxiety disorders?

What is your basic approach to treatment?

How long is a typical course of treatment?

Participate fully in your therapy sessions. Hold nothing back, and perform all your homework to the best of your ability.

If your doctor suggests medication to alleviate the symptoms of your anxiety disorder, ask questions. You want to know about possible side effects, contraindications, when will you feel better, how long should you take it, etc.

If you would like to try an anxiety self help book or program, you must do your homework. Research the program that interests you, read the sales page thoroughly to see if the program resonates with you. If there is a free newsletter or report offered, sign up for it. This will give you a taste of the program and may help you make your buying decision.

You may also want to read reviews written by others who have used the product.

Once you find an anxiety treatment method that you feel is a good fit for you and your specific situation, work your program of choice as if your life depends on it (because let’s face it, the quality of your life really does depend on it).

If you approach your program enthusiastically and with a positive mindset, this will definitely work in your favor. If your program involves homework or writing assignments, do them!

If you don’t fully participate in your therapy, fail to take your medication as prescribed, purchase an online program and then let it sit on your hard drive gathering virtual dust, I can guarantee that you will fail and continue to suffer from anxiety.

The goal is to keep moving forward. You will most likely have setbacks or bad days or feel discouraged from time to time. Know that this is part of the recovery process. It is about progress, not perfection. You must persist and follow through with your chosen method of anxiety treatment in order to get lasting results.

In closing, when you are ready to seek anxiety treatment, research your options, pick a program or therapy that’s right for you, and work it until you get the results you want. And that is how you will succeed in your method of choice.

You must have heard the name neurotransmitter, if you have ever suffered hormonal problems or anxiety disorders. However, we are sure that you must not be totally aware of what a neurotransmitter is. So, read to get an answer to your query about neurotransmitter and when they are used.

Transmitting signals from one neuron to the other, neurotransmitter is a chemical that regulates emotional and physical processes. All our mental and cognitive performances can come to a standstill if these chemicals are not circulated in a proper ratio in the body, such is the importance of neurotransmitters.

For our well being, it’s essential to get neurotransmitter tests done, so as to know the level of neurotransmitters in our body. Using latest techniques and equipments, these test are conducted in some of the most advanced laboratories around the world. Neurotransmitter testing not only helps detect the deficiency but will also help you get the proper supplement to cure it. Moreover, one can ask for adrenal test along with the neurotransmitter test in a well-known laboratory.

If your test report states that you have a deficiency of neurotransmitters then worry not, as neurotransmitter support in the form of supplements are easily available in the market. Two most important neurotransmitters that are available in the form of neurotransmitter supplements are serotonin and dopamine. Serotonin neurotransmitter is recommended for those suffering from anxiety and depression, while dopamine neurotransmitter is recommended to them who are facing a lack of motivation and energy.

Depression might be the devil in disguise behind your lonely and sadist feelings. Often people don’t know about depression and are not able to cure it. Quite like the anxiety disorders, depression can occur owing to many reasons, so it is important to figure out the symptoms you are facing and ways to cure it.

Depression Symptoms

First of all you need to know the symptoms of this mental illness. People suffering from depression experience symptoms like feeling hopeless without any motivation. Moreover, they have frequent headaches, pains and desire to commit suicide. They think that they are useless and a burden on others. Sleep deprivation and low esteem are other common symptoms people in depression might face.

Self Test for Depression

One can self-test to see whether one is suffering from depression or consult a doctor for the same. Assess yourself by asking whether you find it always difficult to concentrate on things and take decisions. Observe that whether you have lost interest in your hobbies in the last few days. If you have suddenly started feeling like a hopeless, worthless and pessimistic person, then chances are that you are suffering from the devil called depression.

Curing Depression

Be it a depression resulting because of lack of hormone balance or your recent failures, there are ways available to cure it. Though yoga and meditation are the most common ways to cure depression, these days people are trying out natural depression supplements to get rid of this devil called depression. Usually, doctors recommend Neurotransmitter testing or hormone testing as a way to cure depression. Apart from adults, even children suffering from depression in the form of adhd can also take natural depression supplements after consulting a doctor.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or adhd though both seen in adults and children is a common childhood disorder. Out of 100, 5 children are seen suffering from adhd these days. Some call it anxiety disorders and they are not wrong in stating this, but there is more to it then just anxiety. Diagnosing adhd is different for children and adults, as both have different symptoms for this disorder.

Symptoms and cure of ADHD in adults

Diagnosing adults for adhd means looking for symptoms like low self-esteem and organizational skills. Anxiety, impulsiveness, inability to deal with anger and forgetfulness are other symptoms of adhd in adults. Once any of these symptoms is detected in an adult, then that person should go for neurotransmitter tests and based on the reports consult a doctor for ADD nutritional supplements like dopamine and serotonin. Highly effective in curing ADHD in adults, these supplements are not available so easily, only well known laboratories and some mental health experts provide them.

Symptoms and cure of ADHD in children

Take the help of pediatricians and child specialists for diagnosing ADHD in children. Most common symptoms observed in children suffering from ADHD include lack of concentration and inability to finish tasks on time. Apart from these they do not listen properly and squirm and are always seen in constant motion. They too like adults have anxiety problems, sleep disorders, and thyroid problems. Apart from giving supplements to the children suffering ADHD, they should be healed through emotion and care by parents and teachers.
