CPAP – A Life Saving Therapy

Everyone will agree that taking care of two active kids and being a housewife is full time job, which is demanding as well as tiring. So, no wonder that I ignored the first symptoms of sleep apnea. I had begun to get tired easily and won’t remember things. I would feel irritated and depressed all of the time and get angry with the kids for small reasons. But I thought that it was only because I had overworked myself and need a break. But things didn’t improve over the time. My husband had started complaining that I snored too loud. This condition went on for about 2 years.

By this time, I had consulted about half a dozen doctors but nothing had worked. My condition had worsened. I would sleep at any hour of the day ignoring the work. Because of depression, I had started isolating myself. My family life suffered a lot because of it. It was when my condition did not improve even after a long course of taking anti-depressants that my psychiatrist suggested I take a sleep test. The sleep test was an eye opener because it revealed that I was actually suffering from obstructive sleep apnea.

I was prescribed the CPAP therapy. So I got a CPAP machine as soon as I could get one. Adjusting to sleep with a CPAP mask took a little time, but I have slept like a baby ever since I have used them. Now I don’t feel tired and depressed all the time.

As a concluding note I would like to say that do not treat sleeping disorder lightly. It can turn out to be fatally dangerous. Make sure to use a sleep apnea machine if you are diagnosed with sleep apnea.
