With the revelation that mesothelioma is mostly caused due to asbestos effects lawsuits began to mount up against industrial houses and asbestos users. The first one was filed way back in the year 1929 and since then the law suit liabilities relating to mesothelioma has mounted to billions of dollars.
While the judiciary tries its best to award and allocate reasonable compensation, Government is trying preventive measures against asbestos use putting effective law in place.
Mass public attention were drawn to the evil affects of asbestos use only as late as 1960 when an article brought up by Wagner established that mesothelioma is a form of cancer and it is the result of exposure to crocidolite asbestos. This was followed by the first report of mesothelioma diagnosis in the year 1962 when McNulty reported the attack of the disease on Australian workers working in the environment laden with asbestos.
The first official warning on the dangers that could come up with the use of blue asbestos came up in the year 1974. For the first time in history, the Government of Western Australia decided to do away with the use of blue asbestos in 1978.
This was followed by the decision of the United Kingdom Government to ban the use of both blue and brown asbestos in 1985. Most of the countries including the United States now have formed official legal agencies to deal with the threat of the mesothelioma cancer.
